Power New York City: Health & Empowerment Symposium Dr. Terri Kennedy organized and hosted the day-long Power New York City Health & Empowerment Symposium at Columbia University on behalf of the American Heart Association. The event offered inspirational talks, self-management tools, health screenings, and discussions on "total health" including healthy eating, mental health, oral health, skincare, disease management and prevention. Dr. Kennedy is a National Spokesperson, Ambassador and Power Advocate for the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association. The Harvard Club of New York City Dr. Terri Kennedy spoke to a sold-out crowd at The Harvard Club of New York City about "How to Turn Your Passion Into A Sustainable Social Enterprise." The
event was sponsored by three Harvard entities: the Harvard Club,
the Harvard Business School Club of New York and the Harvard Social
Enterprise Club. Dr. Kennedy is a Harvard MBA ('92) and completed an Executive Education Program on Global Leadership & Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government ('09). She shared her journey from corporate executive to
social entrepreneur, offering advice on surviving the start-up phase,
creating innovative strategies for outreach and funding, as well as
managing personal balance and sanity. Most of all, during the 60-minute talk, she challenged
participants to use their unique talents to help improve the state of

American Diabetes Association Business Wellness Forum Dr. Terri Kennedy moderated the Business Wellness Forum sponsored by the American Diabetes Association and Aetna. The theme was "Diabetes: Wellness in the Workplace Connecting Mind, Body & the Bottomline." The Forum brought together the business community with health experts to discuss how health affects productivity in the workplace and strategies for businesses to improve their Health & Productivity Management offerings. It specifically addressed the importance of diabetes awareness and its economic cost within the business community. Panelists included Dr. Jerome Tolbert, attending physician in the Department of Medicine and Endocrinology at Beth Israel Medical Center and medical director of the outreach program at the Friedman Diabetes Institute; Dr. Olajide Williams, Associate Director of Neurology at Columbia University and Director of Operations of the Harlem Hospital Stroke Center; Larry Harper, Financial Advisor at Oppenheimer & Co. and caregiver to his 86-year-old diabetic mother; and Maudine Nelson, Registered Dietician, Certified Diabetes Educator and Nutritionist at Columbia University's Institute of Human Nutrition. Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York Dr. Terri Kennedy led a workshop exploring the topic "No More Drama -- Managing Stress Before It Manages Me" for the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York. In this very interactive 90-minute session, she shared information and hands-on techniques to help participants reduce stress and lead healthier lives. The event was sponsored by their Women’s Health Ministry which is led by the Co-Pastor, Rev. Dr. Elaine McCollins-Flake. For their 27th Anniversary Women's Season, the theme is "Walking in Divine Manifestation." During this season the women experience events focused on spiritual, physical, emotional renewal and empowerment. The mission of the Women’s Health Ministry is to promote wellness and to reduce the prevalence of disease that disproportionately affects the members of their community. "Go Red" is a program of the American Heart Association which raises women's awareness about heart disease, and encourages women to take action to reduce their personal risk. Dr. Kennedy is a National Spokesperson, Ambassador and Power Advocate for the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association. In this video segment, she is leading a mix of active movements with a breath awareness exercise.
