Dr. Terri Kennedy Leads Workshop for East Harlem Asthma Center of Excellence
On Thursday, December 17th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy led a stress management program for families at the East Harlem Asthma Center of Excellence. Sponsored by the New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the event took place at the Aguilar Library in East Harlem.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Leads Workshop for Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
On Tuesday, December 1st, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy led a professional development workshop for the faculty at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She offered insights on leadership from her popular keynote on "Becoming a PWR® Leader: Serving Up Success."

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks at Jack & Jill Metropolitan Cluster Event
On Saturday, October 31st, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy led a workshop for the Jack & Jill Metropolitan Cluster Event at the Mahwah Sheraton in New Jersey. She offered "A Dose of Power Living" - a mix of inspiration and coaching advice - for the 500 women in attendance. Jack & Jill of America, Inc. is celebrating 70 years of being the premier family organization that provides cultural, social, civic and recreational activities that stimulate and expand the minds of children from various backgrounds. Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in the WEF Global Gender Gap Release 
On Tuesday, October 27th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy attended the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Index 2009 release event at Reuters in New York. The report’s Index assesses countries on how well they are dividing their resources and opportunities among their male and female populations, regardless of the overall levels of these resources and opportunities. Iceland has claimed the top spot from Norway which slipped to third position behind Finland. South Africa and Lesotho made great strides in closing their gender gaps to enter the top 10 for the first time.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in the SVN Fall 2009 Conference 
From October 22nd through 25th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the SVN Fall 2009 Conference at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in California. She also taught a yoga class. The Social Venture Network brings the pioneers of socially-conscious business to collaborate and connect to transform the way the world does business.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in the Yoga Alliance Board Retreat 
From October 15th through 18th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Yoga Alliance Board Retreat at their corporate offices in Arlington, Virginia. She recently stepped down as Chair and continues to serve on the Finance and Nominating Committees.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in the HistoryMakers Smokey Robinson
On October 10th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in The HistoryMakers Smokey Robinson taping. The HistoryMakers records both well-known and unsung stories of African Americans along with organizations, events, movements and periods of time that are significant to the African American community. Dr. Kennedy has known Smokey Robinson since she was very young. Honorary Co-Chairs of the event include Clarence Avant, the Honorable Richard & Maggie Daley, Quincy Jones, Vernon & Ann Jordan, The Honorable Colin & Alma Powell, Linda Johnson Rice and John Rogers, Jr.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in Young Global Leader U.S. Policy Roundtable
From October 6th through 8th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the YGL U.S. Policy Roundtable organized by the World Economic Forum. She received U.S. policy briefings from senior administration officials including The Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ambassador Elizabeth Bagley, Under Secretary William J. Burns, Secretary Timothy Geithner and Dr. Larry Summers among others.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks At Central Harlem Health Revival Health Conference
On October 3rd, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy was the keynote speaker for the Central Harlem Health Revival Health Conference and Fair at the Minisink Townhouse in Harlem. She provided an overview of Power Living health principles and techniques.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends the Second Annual CUP Wall Street Partners Dinner
On Tuesday, September 29th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy attended the Second Annual Wall Street Partners Dinner sponsored by the Council for Urban Professionals at Le Parker Meridien Hotel in New York. The event provided a forum for networking, information sharing, and tool development to enhance the professional skills, assets, and prospects of senior level professionals of color across the finance sector.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in Central Harlem Health Revival Walk
On Sunday, September 27th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Central Harlem Health Revival Walk. It began at 155th St. & 8th Ave and ended at the Health Fair and program on the Harlem State Office Building Plaza.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in the "Summer Davos" in Dalian, China
From September 8th through the 12th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the "Summer Davos" Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China. The Meeting took a comprehensive approach to the issues most relevant to getting global business back on a track of growth and identifying opportunities for development. She also participated in the Young Global Leaders Summit, presenting an initiative focused on global health.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Leads Workshop for Abyssinian Development Corporation
On August 12, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy led her signature "From Stress to Success" workshop for the Abyssinian Development Corporation Planning Institute in New York. She offered practical strategies for proactively managing stress, as well as hands-on coping techniques. 

Dr. Terri Kennedy Leads Advanced Workshop for Association of Black Cardiologists
From July 23rd through July 25th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Community Health Advocate Training (CHAT) sponsored by the Association of Black Cardiologists. She learned the With Every Heartbeat is Life curriculum, as well as taught an advanced workshop to physicians and nurses titled "A Body-Mind-Spirit Approach to Stress Management".

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends HOPE Global Financial Literacy Summit
On Wednesday, June 17th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy attended the HOPE Global Financial Literacy Summit in Washington, D.C. The keynote speaker was U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and other prominent speakers included FDIC Chair Sheila Bair, civil rights icon Ambassador Andrew Young, Congressman Elijah Cummings, Daniel Heath of the International Monetary Fund, Valerie Jarrett, among others.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Receives 2009 National Power Award
On June 13th, 2009, Dr. Kennedy received the National Power Award presented by the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association for leadership in providing stroke prevention awareness.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in World Economic Forum on Africa
From June 8th through June 12th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, South Africa. The Summit brought together some of the world's top policy and decision makers to discuss that region and global challenges. She also attended a special Young Global Leaders gathering.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in CUP Women's Leadership Forum
On Friday, June 5th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the CUP Women's Leadership Forum with the theme "New Economy, New Reality: Developing Tools for Empowerment & Opportunity" in New York. It was presented and hosted by Bank of America in partnership with The White House Project & The National Council For Research On Women. 

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends Eleventh Annual Uncommon Height Gala
On Thursday, June 4th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy attended the Eleventh Annual Uncommon Height Gala in Washington, D.C. in honor of Dr. Dorothy Height's birthday. She celebrated 97 years. The honoree was Oprah Winfrey and the Honorary Chair was First Lady Michelle Obama.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends Believe Award Dinner
On Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy attended The Believe Award dinner at the Craftbar in New York City. Administered through Swarthmore College's Eugene Lang Center for Social Responsibility, the Award provides a deserving undergraduate with the opportunity to make a real difference by participating in an international social action project during the summer. 

Dr. Terri Kennedy Hosts Power New York City: Health & Empowerment Symposium
On Saturday, May 30th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy organized and hosted the first annual Power New York City: Health & Empowerment Symposium on behalf of the American Heart Association. The purpose of the event was to empower those in the minority community to take control of their own lives. It offered inspirational talks, self-management tools, health screenings, and discussions on "total health" including healthy eating, mental health, oral health, skincare, disease management and prevention. It featured experts from the New York City area, including Terrie M. Williams as the keynote speaker. View sample speaking video from event.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks at 5th Annual NAACP Leadership 500 Summit
From May 21st through May 24th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the 5th Annual NAACP Leadership 500 Summit entitled "Ensuring our Legacy" at the Phoenician Hotel and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. She spoke on a panel moderated by the dynamic Hazel Dukes, as well as taught morning yoga classes.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in the Young Global Leaders Dead Sea Summit
From May 13th through May 17th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Young Global Leaders Dead Sea Summit in Jordan. The Summit brings together Young Global Leaders and some of the world's top policy and decision makers to discuss that region and global challenges. She also attended the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, and took a side trip to Petra.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks at Women Organized Around Wellness Event
On Friday, May 1st, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy was the featured speaker for the "A Day for Us" event sponsored by Women Organized Around Wellness (W.O.W.). She spoke on "Power Living: Think, Eat and Live on Purpose."

Dr. Terri Kennedy Does Red Carpet Interviews for HealthCorps Gala
On Thursday, April 30th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy did red carpet interviews for HealthCorps' Annual Green Garden Gala. The event raised money to expand HealthCorps' groundbreaking in-school health educational and mentoring program, which is growing across the country. Dr. Mehmet Oz, Founder and Chairman of HealthCorps, and his wife Lisa co-hosted the Gala. Dr. Kennedy interviewed Quincy Jones, who received the "Music for a Better Life" Award, as well as other notables such as LL Cool J, Russell Simmons, Ben Vereen, and Donna Karan. On Monday, April 20th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the American Heart Association Lobby Day receiving training in advocacy and discussing the AHA legislative agenda.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends the World Economic Forum on Latin America
From April 13th through April 17th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the World Economic Forum on Latin America in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The Summit brought together some of the world's top policy and decision makers to discuss that region and global challenges. She also attended a special Young Global Leaders gathering.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends Harvard Kennedy School Executive Program
From March 29th, 2009 through April 8th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in an Executive Education Program at the Harvard Kennedy School entitled "Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century." The program curriculum integrated theory and practice, emphasizing the advanced skills and knowledge necessary to serve as a powerful force for progress. The program focused on critical global policy areas, with an emphasis on implementing innovative solutions in dynamic, multiple-stakeholder arenas.

On Monday, March 23rd, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy taught a series of "From Stress to Success" workshops for employees at the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition
On Sunday, March 8th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy taught a seminar to the over 1,200 Holistic Health Counseling students at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York. She focused on "Making Healthy Living Accessible," including an overview of health disparities and how to create and deliver culturally-relevant health messages to individuals and community groups.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in SYTAR Conference
From March 5th through March 7th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Third IAYT Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research (SYTAR) in Los Angeles. The program focuses on learning through lectures, case study presentations and practice sessions delivered by over 30 speakers. Yoga Alliance held a special event at the conference in celebration of its 10th Anniversary.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends NV Awards - A Salute to Urban Professionals in Business
On February 27th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy will attend the NV Awards - A Salute to Urban Professionals in Business. It will take place at the New York Stock Exchange. Her brother-in-law, John Bryant, Chairman of Operation HOPE, will be receiving an award. Other honorees include actress Vivica A. Fox, NBA star Stephon Marbury, entrepreneur R. Donahue Peebles, businesswoman Tiffany Warren, fashion team Shawn & Shane Ward, chef Marcus Samuelson and social entrepreneur Avra Rice.

On February 26th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy spoke on a forum entitled "Health Challenges & Solutions in the Black Community." The event was sponsored by The Network Journal and took place at Macy's corporate offices in New York.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends Senate Hearing on Integrative Health Care
On Thursday, February 26th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy attended the Senate Hearing on "Integrative Care: A Pathway To A Healthier Nation." Testimony was provided by Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Mark Hyman before Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Senator Barbara A. Milkulski (D-MD), and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in Summit on Integrative Medicine at the Institute of Medicine
From February 25th through February 26th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Summit on Integrative Medicine and the Health of the Public which was sponsored by the Institute of Medicine and took place at the National Academy of Sciences Building in DC. It was a forum created to discuss integrating health and health care, including the overall vision for an integrated healthcare system, the various models of interdisciplinary prevention-oriented care, the scientific issues, the economic stakes involved, as well as the education necessary for caregivers, researchers and the public.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks at the NY State Council of Health-system Pharmacists Conference
On February 23rd, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy was the keynote speaker for the New York State Council of Health-system Pharmacists Leadership Development Conference. The Council represents New York State pharmacists who practice in ambulatory, long term, managed, home and acute care settings. Dr. Kennedy spoke on servant leadership - "Becoming a PWR® Leader: Serving Up Success."

Dr. Terri Kennedy Moderates Panel for Integrative Healthcare Symposium
On February 19th and 20th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Integrative Healthcare Symposium in New York. The event is a gathering of influential and inspiring practitioners and healthcare professionals in integrative medicine and offers informational programs, updates on evidence-based research, and peer-to peer networking. On February 19th, Dr. Kennedy she moderated a panel entitled "From Local to Global: Nursing Leadership for Change." Panelists include: Barbara Dossey, PhD, RN; Barbara Sattler, PhD, RN; Dorothy Larkin, PhD, RN; Mary Jo Kreitzer, PhD, RN. On Saturday, February 20th, Dr. Kennedy taught a Ta Yoga class for the program.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Leads the Abyssinian Health Ministry Lenten Program
From February 18, 2009 through April 14th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy is leading two Power Living® signature programs for The 2009 Abyssinian Health Ministry Lenten Program - combining the Seven-Day PWR® Detox with the 40 Days to Power Living® programs. The program includes in-person sessions at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, as well as teleclasses. On February 14, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy will participate in the symposium "Love Your Heart: Cardiometabolic Disease in Women of Color." The event is sponsored by The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. - Manhattan Chapter (NCBW) and will be held at Harlem Hospital. Dr. Kennedy will be offering advice on how to make heart-healthy lifestyle choices.

On February 13th, 2009, from 6pm - 7pm, Dr. Terri Kennedy was interviewed on WUSB FM in New York about Integrative Healthcare. 

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in Panel at the National Press Club in D.C.
On January 27th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in a panel entitled, Yoga - The Science Behind the Benefits at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Sponsored by Yoga Alliance, this breakfast also featured Rachel Permuth-Levine, Ph.D, MSPH, Deputy Director of Strategic and Innovative Programs at the National Institutes of Health, as well as Sat Bir S. Khalsa, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. They discussed yoga and its benefits to overall wellness, role in preventative health care, use as a CAM therapy and clinical effectiveness.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Moderates Continuing Education Panel for Yoga Journal Conference
From January 16, 2009 through January 19th, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the 6th Annual Yoga Journal San Francisco Conference being held at the Hyatt Regency. She moderated a Continuing Education panel entitled "The Business of Being a Yoga Teacher," with Jason Crandell, Pretzel France, Cyndi Lee, and Rogelio Nunez.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Teaches for S.P.I.C.E. Program in Brooklyn
On Thursday, January 8, 2009, Dr. Terri Kennedy resumed her work with S.P.I.C.E. (Supporting Pre-Conception Individuals through Cultural, Cooking, and Coping Essentials). She offered two additional modules as their nutrition expert providing education and demonstrations to the women in the program. The program is being administered through CAMBA, one of Brooklyn's largest, most comprehensive social service agencies. The intention is to address the pre-conception health of the most at-risk Caribbean, African-American, African, and Latina women in central Brooklyn as a preventive measure to instill healthy habits that would continue when and if these women become pregnant.
